2015

Raptor Watch 2015 was a great success! For the first time ever, school children and fans of Raptor Watch walked up the hill right up to the lighthouse and had the chance to visit the raptor counters inside the lighthouse. And many visited the forest trails to see and learn about the beauty of the forest!
We thank you for coming. And don’t forget to tag us, @malaysiannaturesociety when you upload your Raptor Watch photos on Facebook and Instagram pages.
And now, enjoy some snapshots of the 17th Raptor Watch 😀

On 21st February 2015, MNS Head of Communications and Raptor Watch Organizing Chairman, Andrew Sebastian was fortunate to rescue a juvenile Osprey which crashed into the ocean. This incident occurred about 100 metres from Pulau Arang, a small island off Port Dickson’s 1st mile. The Osprey was brought back to shore and left there to rest.
Raptors take the risk every year when they make their great migration journey. And just like this juvenile Osprey, many raptors have crashed into the ocean and drowned due to tiredness and no proper forest for them to stop and rest.
And this is one of the important factors that the Tanjung Tuan Forest Reserve must be protected for.
