Q : How to join Raptor Watch 2018?
A : Raptor Watch is open to everyone. Just show up at the Tanjung Tuan Forest Reserve on 10 -11 March 2018. You can sign up for them when you are there
Q : Is the program (with nature walks) just for 1 day?
A : No this year, Raptor Watch will be for 2 days (10 -11 March). And since the event will be held at the Tanjung Tuan Forest Reserve, there will only be nature walks. There will not be any mangrove or seashore walks. The walks will be conducted on an hourly basis. The last walk will usually be around 3-3.30 pm.
Q : Are there any fees to join Raptor Watch 2018?
A : Yes, there will be a conservation fee of RM 1 charged for every adults 12 and above.
Q : How long is the walk to the light house? Is the walk way gravel?
A : The walk up to the lighthouse is roughly about 20-30 minutes. You will be walking on tar road all the way up.
Q : Can we bring along our baby stroller?
A : Yes, certain parts of the walk are a bit steep and a baby stroller would help with small kids.
Q : Where can I park my car?
A : Unfortunately, no public vehicles will be allowed to drive up to the lighthouse. You can park your car outside the entrance of the forest reserve.
Q : Is there any place near there where can just sit down and watch the raptor migration above us?
A : The only place perfect to sit and hopefully catch the raptors flying by is on the beach nearby. You can walk past the PNB Ilham resort and make your way to the beach.
Q : Is it possible to come to the forest reserve on my own to see the raptor migration after the event?
A : Yes, the migration should be ending by end of March. You can still go up the forest reserve but you will not be able to go into the lighthouse. Best time to go is between 10am to 3pm to see the raptors, but this is just a suggested time.
Q : When the dates for this year raptor watch at Tanjung Tuan is finalized? Is the bazaar going to be on Sun?
A : Raptor Watch will be held on 10 -11 March 2018 at the Tanjung Tuan Forest Reserve. It is a one day event this year. There will be a variety of nature related exhibition booths for you to learn more about conservation as you make your way up to the light house.
Q : What should I wear / bring on that day?
A : Any comfortable clothing that is lightweight and suitable for outdoor events, a comfortable pair of walking/sports shoes, a hat/cap and sunblock would be recommended. You may also bring along your own pair of binoculars to witness the raptors and do not forget to bring along your camera to snap pictures of your adventure.
Q : I am planning to bring a group of school students to Raptor Watch. Do I need to register?
A : Since Raptor watch is an open event, you may register upon arrival and explore the booths and activities offered. For the guided walk, you may register yourselves at the Nature Guide Booth, where one of our experienced guide will take you for a guided nature walk after which you can hike up to the lighthouse to complete the experience. You may also email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on special activities for school children. You might be asked to pre-register with us for smoother event flow.
